Thousands of letters from a titleless book have been cut-up and placed into a well that has been channeled out of its pages. The letters fill the volume of the well and theoretically can be painstakingly put back together to form any book ever written.

Cut letters first appeared in Richard Humann’s work in 2000 for the piece Curriculum Vitae. The dissection of the letters was an inherent continuation of his ‘code’ series dating from 1995-2000.
