An anvil head is a cumulonimbus incus cloud that signifies that a thunderstorm is in its mature stage. It is a sign and a warning that severe weather conditions, such as tornadoes, hailstones, lightning and other dangers lie ahead.
Anvil Head was installed over Whitebox Gallery in New York City’s Lower East Side and takes the form of a map of the United States. The shading and coloration of it represent the breakdown, division, and tumultuous energy between the blue and red states of America.
