Ghost Trails was conceived and produced as a website artwork. For it, six people from multiple countries around the world voluntarily recorded and submitted movements of their daily life. The movements were not based on geographical location, or physical tracking but instead were based on daily activities; things that each of them did on a daily, or semi-daily routine. For example: putting on socks, eating chocolate, drinking alcohol or coffee, taking a walk, etc.—banal and ordinary daily activities that might otherwise be overlooked.
The information was then fed to a programmer who placed these movements onto a grid, assigning each participant a color, which then developed into a pattern of daily life. Ghost Trails is as much about the past as it is about the present or a prediction of the future.
