Right Before The After Image is a sculptural installation cast in urethane using the artist’s own hands to form the letters used in American Sign Language. Each hand is captured in the moment, forming the individual consonants and vowels, to create words and sentences, in this case spelling out the message, “right before the after image,” which is generally the moment in time before an image is captured. This coded message, both physically and conceptually, invites the viewer to understand a language of the human form.
