The Kemi Art Museum is located near the Arctic Circle in Northern Finland. For his solo museum exhibition, Where Troubles Melt Like Lemon Drops, Richard Humann took four famous musical numbers from the movie The Wizard Of Oz, and ran the video through computer manipulation software to give the visual effect of the Aurora Borealis. Monitors were placed on the ground in a long and winding path from the entrance of the museum to the exhibition space. On the monitors, in brightly colored yellow, were the flashing words “Follow, Follow, Follow” and “Because, Because, Because.” The Americana fantasy world of The Wizard Of Oz lifted off from America and landed in the northern Laplands of Scandinavia.
